Set Default SIM for SMS Text Messaging In Xiaomi Redmi Dual-SIM Smartphones (2023)

 TL;DR:

Turn off the SIM you do not want to be the default sim for messaging, wait for 10 seconds and turn it back on.

How To Choose the Default SMS SIM:

  1. Go to "settings" on the phone (often the shortcut icon is at the top right corner when you swipe down).
  2. Go to "Sim Cards & Mobile Networks"
  3. Tap on the SIM you would like to NOT be the default SMS SIM.
  4. Turn of the SIM using the toggle
  5. Wait 10 seconds and turn it back on.
  6. Check and attempt sending an SMS to confirm the change has occurred
